Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center is a multifaceted organization with the continual goal of providing support services to juveniles. Since its inception CIJDC has strived to constantly improve the amount of care given to the youths in our program. CIJDC has continued to expand services needed to youth clientele and the surrounding communities.
CIJDC is proud to provide outstanding services and offers Members the lowest rate in the state of Iowa.

Secure Detention Services
The agency was founded in 1993 under a 28E agreement located on the grounds
of the State Training School. CIJDC provided secure detention with 6 beds
serving 6 member counties. CIJDC has now finished construction on a new
facility with 30 beds in the Eldora industrial park.
Currently CIJDC is accepting new members to its Detention Services. Membership is free and it includes all the benefits of membership. Please contact us with interest.
Tracking, Monitoring and Outreach
In 2003 CIJDC began Tracking services for the 2nd Judicial District. CIJDC
wanted to provide more hands on care with youth offenders to intervene before
youth problems compounded. CIJDC has streamlined the Tracking process by
providing detailed documentation, increased communication and more units
of tracking.
CIJDC retains quality Trackers and hires only the best
applicants with the skills needed to mentor the youths. Currently CIJDC
provides tracking services for over 1/3 of the state and is always looking
to expand its scope of its services in the future.

Transportation
In September 1998 CIJDC began transportation for its member counties. Throughout
the years the numbers of trips have increased and CIJDC now employs over
20 external transporters. CIJDC coordinates an average of 115 transports
each month that range anywhere from placements, court to out of state locations.
