Overview
- CIJDC employs transporters, available day and night, throughout Iowa to
maximize cost-savings for our customers.
- CIJDC provides transportation in secure agency vans and personally owned
vehicles
- CIJDC carries a $2 Million liability insurance policy
- CIJDC averages 135 transports per month and has coordinated this service
since 1998.
- All juveniles who are adjudicated delinquent or have pending delinquency
will be transported using full mechanical restraints including handcuffs,
shackles and belly chain.
- Youth and Families who are not adjudicated delinquent will be transported
without mechanical restraints.
Guidelines
- All transports must be court ordered by a judge.
- We can transport juveniles to any location in Iowa.
- We provide transportation for interstate trips including air travel if
necessary.

- Reduces the overall number of Deputies, JCOs and DHS workers transporting
juveniles.
- Eliminates unnecessary overtime and scheduling concerns for the Sheriff's
Department.
- Increases community safety by keeping Sheriff’s Deputies in the
community.
- Sheriff’s Deputies are often paid in excess of the State transportation
reimbursement rate. CIJDC can offer a more cost effective transportation
option.
- Our service eliminates the need for numerous agencies to employ and train
transportation staff.
- CIJDC coordinates all trip details from the essential information provided
to us through JCS, DHS, and Sheriff’s Departments.

- We operate two agency vans which epitomizes the safety, security, and
efficiency of our transportation service.
- Transporters on duty are required to be available via cell phone at all
times.
Costs
- Costs are billed to the Judicial District, County or DHS funding source
- Hourly, mileage rates and fees vary by district and/or contract
- Meal reimbursement during specified time frames
Referral Process
- All transports must be set up by a JCO, DHS Worker or Law Enforcement
Agency
- Call CIJDC and refer the trip to any staff member.
- Please fax or mail a copy of the court order or funding request prior
to the trip.
- CIJDC can arrange transportation within 30 minutes of referral under most
circumstances
Employment
- CIJDC Transporters are paid $12/hour and 34.5 cents per mile
- Transport coverage is optional (must accept 1/3 of trips offered)
- Transports referred 24/7 creating trips for diverse full time schedules
